Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
This modern medical clinic is in the Oriente region of Ecuador along the Peruvian border. It is along the major trade route into the Ecuadorean Amazon. It serves an indigenous population. The nearest hospital is one hour away. There are a pharmacy and basic laboratory. The clinic has three examining rooms, an operating theater and dental suites. There is a dormatory overlooking the river valley and surrounded by the Andes. Attending have been internists, pediatricians, general practitioners, emergency physicians, otolaryngologists, ophthalmologists, general surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and dentists. Dental, medical, and nurse practitioner students have visited with supervision. Periodically a mobile health fair has been organized visiting other underserved venues. Volunteers have come from the Europe, Asia and the Americas. One can stay from two weeks to several months. The clinic is situated at a Catholic mission in the pueblo of Guadalupe. All faiths are welcome. A knowledge of Spanish is useful. Room and board are covered. If you are interested you may visit the web site and explore tha various links. You may also contact the parish priest P. Jorge Nigsch by e.mail.
